Chelsea...

I thought I’d pen you a short note to let you know how well Chelsea is settling in with us. It was such a stroke of fortune finding the Rescue Service, we were actually looking for a breeder and had never presumed that “doodles” would need to find new homes.

It has been such an exciting five days since we collected her. Chelsea was really well behaved in the car even forgiving me heading further into Wales by nearly an hour when I went on the M4 in the wrong direction, was nearly at Swansea before I realized but the dog never said a word, although as we had been in thecar for two hours we had to stop back at Cardiff Gate for exercise which is where we had picked Chelsea up from originally, I think that she thought that was it and she’d be going home after a nice drive.

We got back to Basingstoke just before the children got home from school and Chelsea was settled in when the arrived, she was a bit nervous of meeting yet more new people but after a sniff and a quick game of football all was well. Meeting the cat proved a little more troublesome with much hissing and barking but I am pleased to report that by the end of the weekend they were happily sleeping in the same room and even sharing a food bowl (cat eating dog food rather than the other way around).

The weekend has been one of constant walks, games and more walks. In between which we have had to go shopping and run errands, I have worked out now that whilst I am doing “stuff” Chelsea sleeps so she is ready for when I am free again to walk and play some more. There is no wonder I am more exhausted than the dog.

We can not thank you enough for helping us find Chelsea, a better family pet could not be possible, she is a great testament to her previous owner, and I know letting her go was heartbreaking to her and her family. Without a doubt the Labradoodle Rescue service is providing a really important service, I deeply hope that you never have to re-home a dog but know that if you do the combination of home visit and owner/dog matching that you did with us will mean that there will be future success stories for you to publish.

Many thanks
Mike, Linda, Tiga & Valen
